AGE DISCRIMINATION, THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER YOU, GOOD AND EVIL, GROWING OLDER, WHAT OLDER FOLKS KNOW

When I was living in Colorado Springs. I had a bad experience with a young man at the Silver Key Senior Services. I called them for suggestions where someone my age might get a part-time job (I’m over 65) The young man I spoke with informed me no one would hire me as I was TOO OLD. I could tell he was a young by the words he used and the sound of his voice, Needless to say, I was shocked. I also have a short fuse. I proceeded to rip him a new a– ho–. It is against the law for an employer to discriminate against someone because of age. All I could think was how stupid an employer would be to deny a person a job because of age. Well, it didn’t matter where I put in an application, I did not find a job. Companies have a way of determining a person’s age by some of the questions they ask. These companies are the losers. An older person is dependible, knowledgable, loyal and in most cases, trustworthy. If they’re on Medicare, an employer doesn’t have to worry about major insurance benefits. So to all you folks who are in your sixties and still employed, hang onto that job. Companies do not respect the quality of work you would bring as a new employee. I’m glad I got that off my chest.

My family tells me that I am weird, and I am. I have strange beliefs. I belief in ghost because I have seen them. My house in Florida was haunted by an old woman. Maybe that’s why I like to write book with ghost in them. My MAJOR BELIEF is that there will never be another you. You are the only person who can occupy your space in the universe. THERE ARE NO DUPLICATES of anything, not even blades of grass. Even if you were cloned, that individual would somehow be different. Each and every person in existence is unique to their spot in the scheme of things. Unfortunately for us, even the monsters in the world hold a unique place. It’s sad, but true. We can’t seem to have good without having evil as well. And evil does exist. Look into the eyes of a person, they reflect their heart and soul.

As I get older, I am angry at my body. I feel betrayed that it can’t do all the physical things I used to do when I was in my 30s, 40, and even my 50s. When I force myself to continue a task regardless of whether or not I’m too exhausted then I pay for my stupidity. When I start something, I push myself until the job is completed. The next day, my back and knees pay me back for overworking them. Stay as physically fit as you can as you grow older. OLD AGE IS NOT FOR WIMPS.

The one thing about being one of the older generation is the history I’ve seen, the places I’ve visited, books I’ve read, people I’ve met and the invaluable knowledge I have obtained. All this information is stored in the computer banks of my mind to be called up whenever I need to create a scene in one of my books. I insert a lot of my history into the lives of my characters as well as the places I’ve lived. So when you read one of my novels, the romantic suspense especially, part of the story is taken from my life. I have a lot more stories to tell and love writing every one of them.

Everyone have a great weekend and stay safe. You are valuable to the world and there will never be another you. Remember, NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.
