FRIENDS, COLORADO, HOTTER WEATHER, WRITING AND MORE, TIME

Yesterday morning I took my dear friend Shirley to the airport.  She had tried to fly out the day before, but ended up sitting for five hours while United tried desperately to get her on another flight back to Ohio.  There had been a problem with the plane which United couldn’t find.  Another plane was to replace the problem one, but that didn’t work out.  I don’t believe she was meant to fly out yesterday.  Too many thing were against that happening, weather, no other available flights and other problems.  That was fine with me as I hated to see her leave.  Per Shirley, United really work hard to accommodate everyone, and did put her on a flight for yesterday morning.

images7JPAILFWAs I was driving back from the airport, spread out before me was Pike’s Peak rising up against a clear deep blue sky, the summit spotted with snow.  A small white plane, flying south, stood out against the darkness of the trees on the slopes of the mountains.  Sometimes, I feel as if it is all a dream and I’ll wake and find myself still stuck in Florida.  Florida is beautiful, but it was never home.  I thank God every day that I am back in Colorado.  Yes, the city has grown to almost a half a million people and is more sprawling than I like, I wish it was a smaller city, but I love it.

Weather wise, we’re going to have a hell of a week, hell being the optimum word here.  Hot!  Hot! for the rest of the week all the way through Monday, the temperature drops into the lower eighties.  The fur critters and I will hide inside as I don’t do heat well.  I’m a winter person and like snow, I melt(sweat buckets) when it is too hot.

NEW HANGMAN SINGLENEW SNATCHER CVRI’m back to working on THE HANGMAN.  I want that book finished, but it seems as if it is taking me forever to get it written.  I guess it’s because I want to be correct with all my facts.  I do try hard to be accurate.  Oh well, it will be done, I guess, when the story plays out.  Then comes the next book in the series, THE SNATCHER.

Everyone have a great weekend, and stay safe.  Life is short.

WEATHER, FOOTBALL

Why is it that when I don’t have to go out, the weather is warm and beautiful. Today, I have no choice but to go out, and it is raining.
Did I tell you that I am helping my daughter two nights a week at her dance studio. Normally, I enjoy the work, but this Thursday is a very important day. Florida State and Louisville play football in Louisville. Now I know some of you, or all of you, do not give a fat-rat’s-ass about this football game. But to a NOLES fan, it’s the game of the year until the next one. And yes, I know the QB has some problems. I’m wishy washy on that, I tell you. Well anyway, I could go on and on, but point of the story is that she knows people In high places and I don’t. She and her husband are going to the game and I AM NOT. CRAP!!! Being the wonderful mother that I am, I said I would work for her Thursday night.
I had intended to tell you about the goodies I made, but time is running short. Oh well, the next time.
I had intended to tell you about the goodies I made, but time is short right now. Oh well, the next time.
By the way, THE STONE KILLER IS UP AND READY FOR SALE. It is different than our other two books, and much better in my opinion. Take a look and see for yourself.
Well, I’ve got some stuff to edit. Sister sent it a week ago and I haven’t looked at it yet.
Guess I better get busy.
Y’all take care of yourselves and stay safe

I DON’T KNOW YET

Well folks I’m back.  And to tell you the truth, I don’t even know where I’ve been.  I just know I have been unable to write a blog for awhile.  Because Sister asked me to, I’m going to give it a go.

How the heck have y’all been?  Not much going on in my world.  Well, my husband had a total knee replacement, and even tho he has a very high pain tolerance, he suffered quite a bit.   He is better now, but still has some pain after therapy.I

Have you ever typed an entire paragraph only to have it disappear?  Well, that Just happened to me.  I don’t know where it went.  I suppose it is out there in cyberspace somewhere.  So I will try to do it again.

The most exciting thing in my life is that I am going to Colorado in June.  I can hardly wait.  If we can talk our sister in Ohio to go too, we can have a family reunion.

I’m editing THE STONE KILLER as fast as I can.  Sister needs to finish writing the darn thing so we can get it up on Amazon soon.

My dinner is nearly ready and the husband is hungry, so I will say bye for now.  You all be good to yourselves and we’ll talk again soon.  Stick with your writing and don’t let yourself get into a slump like I have.

STILL ALIVE, COLORADO WEATHER, LINGERING COUGH, GRAY SKY, WHERE IS THE SUN, WORD GOAL

11-4FFBF4EE-702370-960Well, I’m still alive, thank God.  For awhile, I was beginning to doubt that I would make it.  I awoke this a.m. at 9:00.  When I opened my eyes, it was to the gentle feel of a fluffy paw on my arm and the intense stare of a pair of blue eyes.  Stanley, my furry Ragdoll cat decided it was time for me to get up and feed them.  I was surprised that they let me sleep that late.  I immediately got up and went to the kitchen to fix their food and turn on the coffee pot.  They were happy.

I felt great for a time.  My lungs and sinuses felt clear for the first time in two weeks.  I fixed my cup of coffee and sat down at my computer.  Then an attack of coughing began.  I am so sick and tired of coughing I could scream, and would scream if it wouldn’t scare the hell out of my neighbors.  I hope and pray that none of you get this garbage.  It is, to put it bluntly, a bitch.  I feel okay, and would be great if the cough would stop.  Oh well, it has to go away sometime.  I have some pills to help me stop coughing, but they make me too sleepy to use during the day.  I take them at night so I can sleep.  They do the job.

Well my goal of writing 1700 words a day is in the pit.  Yesterday my brain decided not to function too well so I only manage to put 100 words on the computer.  Today has to be better, anyway I hope so.

Normally, Colorado has a lot of sunshine.  Today is not that day.  It is gray and cloudy and even though the weather report says it is in the forties, it looks like it could snow again.  I hope not.  Anyway, it is warmer.

It is time for me to get busy on THE STONE KILLER.  I want to try to complete this novel this month.  I know, good luck.  I still can try to reach my goal.  My killer is searching for his next victim.  He has several more in mind and enjoys the hunt so much.

Until the next time, everyone take care of yourselves and stay safe.  I wish you all the best for 2014.

COLORADO, SUNSHINE, SNOW COMING, DOCTOR, COLD HANGING ON, FUZZY BRAIN, TIRED OF BEING SICK

I just returned from the doctor’s office.  I am on another round of antibiotics and this crap has gone into my chest.  I am waiting for the pharmacy to call so I can go pick up my drugs.  Having worked in a hospital for numerous years, I am the world’s worse patient.  I do not do being sick very well.  I give any illness two days and I want it gone.  That is not the case with this garbage.  The news last night reported that 30 people have been hospitalized with this junk.  It seems to be attacking a lot of people here in Colorado.  So I can’t say for sure how I managed to get this junk.  My nephew is off the hook.

My cats were out of wet food, and refused to eat the type my kind landlord and his wife brought me.  I dragged my exhausted body to WalMart.  In the pharmacy section, the shelves were almost bare of cold medicine.  I lucked out and did find a large bottle of Robitussin, but no Vicks VapoRub.  It may be an old remedy, but it works.  I bought food so I can prepare meals to be frozen and heated later, that is when I get the energy.  I also bought lots and lots and lots of Puffs.  At bedtime, I popped a Coricidin  and slept until 5:00 a.m. when a coughing fit jarred me awake. I then curled up in my recliner and slept until almost 9:00.  Bandit peeked over the arm of the chair and meowed to let me know it was time to get up and feed them.  Also my doctor’s appointment was at 11:00, so I had to get my butt in gear.   So the prognosis is that I am on the mend, thank God.

It is hard to believe that right this minute the outside temperature is 57 degrees.  Our high for tomorrow is 24 with 3 to 4 inches of snow.  That is Colorado for you.  Where I live, we need the snow.  It is too dry and that is dangerous for grass fires.  If we don’t get enough moisture this winter, I hate to think of the fire danger this coming summer.

Well, my recliner is calling and I really need a nap.  I’m going to “recline” until the pharmacy calls.

Everyone, take care of yourselves and stay safe.

Until we talk again.

WINTER COLD, CHICKEN SOUP, MY CATS, CATCHING UP ON MURDER AND MAYHEM, NEW BOOKS

Chicken soup is a common classic comfort food ...

Chicken soup is a common classic comfort food that might be found across cultures. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Well, yesterday I chased my nose with a tissue all day and evening until my poor nose was raw,  Why and how  I managed to catch a cold, I don’t know.  I haven’t been out of the house except to go to the grocery store on the 23rd.  I spent most of yesterday in my recliner with a box of Kleenex.  Even after taking an antihistamine, my nose continued to run somewhat.  I did all they say to do, ate chicken soup, slept a lot and even went to bed early and slept like the proverbial log.  I got up this a.m., fed the cats and then myself.  After a nice hot shower, I felt better, but needless to say, I haven’t written hardly anything since Christmas.

Well Christmas was nice.  I chose to stay home with my cats.  I had invitations for dinner, but for some reason, as this is my first Christmas back in Colorado, I wanted to be in my house.  I bought the cats twelve mice, four long mice with long feather tails and eight small mice without feathers, plus four fuzzy balls with feathers.  Would you believe the only mice left in the living room floor are three long mice, one small mouse and two fuzzy balls with the feathers severely damaged.  Bandit!  She carries the toys off and hides them or knocks them under the entertainment center and expects me to get down on my hands and knees and retrieve them.  She is going to have to wait until I feel a lot better.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and that we’re all ready for 2014.  I pray it will be a great year for us all.  My goals are extensive, finish two to three novels.  I hope to be able to do it as I have two other stories that are about half way finished.  One is a romance and the other is another paranormal romantic suspense filled with romance, murder and mayhem.    I love those words, romance, murder and mayhem.  They sound so intriguing and enticing.  Tags are so important.   I have found that out.

My detective, John T Huntington, will be in a series of books waiting to be written from the vaults in my mind.  They are cooking and when they are ready, I will place my fingers on the keyboard and let them tell their storied.  I don’t know the how or why it is working that way for me lately, but I thank God that it is.  I will continue to write as long as my finger work and the characters keep talking to me.

Well, this is a short post as my recliner is calling me, and I feel the need to rest some more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.

Until we talk again.

DUSTING OF SNOW, COOKIES, AND SUNSHINE, THE NEW YEAR

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! (Photo credit: Kelvin Servigon)

I didn’t get up until 8:19 this morning.  Of course the cats were impatient for their breakfast.  I was surprised to see a dusting of snow on the ground, walkway and my car.  The roads don’t look too bad, but should be clear by the time I have to go out.  The sun is trying to force its way through the cloud cover and will burn them away in no time.

Well, I finished my Christmas shopping.  Now I have to wrap the gifts and mail my sister’ packages.  Thank God they are understanding and don’t mind receiving their presents after Christmas.  All through the year, I look for things to buy them, things that are unique that they wouldn’t buy for themselves.  This year, due to my auto accident and moving back to Colorado, I didn’t do it.   Maybe 2014 will be better.  It has to be.

I am ready for 2014.  I want to finish THE STONE KILLER, upload it and get on to the next book.  I saw where Lisa Jackson has three new books coming out in 2014, one in January, one in February and one March.   That woman is amazing.  It takes time for us to finish a novel.  I guess because we maybe work so hard to make it as perfect.  My sister and I hate to leave mistakes in our books.  That’s why we editing the finished story over and over and over.  After working so hard, line by line, reading it out loud, and then to find errors drives us crazy.  And we are nutty enough, thank God.  I prefer to be a little nutty as opposed to what some people call “normal”

Well, I have to get ready to bake cookies, but first I have to go to the post office.

Everyone have a great day and stay safe.  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Until we talk again.

CATS VS DOGS, KEEPING A WRITING SCHEDULE

My dear sweet sister says cats do not destroy furniture, chew up blankets, or jump on you causing bloody wounds.  I beg to differ.  When I lived in Florida, I had a sofa that, at the time, my two cats loved to shred with their claws.  Oh, did they have fun.  They destroyed that sofa.  When I moved to Colorado, I put it at the curb for trash.  Now I have three cats and believe me,  my newest family member can put a hole in a blanket with her claws and her teeth.  When I play with either her or the big Ragdoll cat, they love to hold onto me with their claw.  The Ragdoll slit my finger open one morning, so I keep lots of Band-Aids handy.  Also my cats love to climb on anything that is high, even the folding door to my closet.  But they are really great company and I love them dearly, but  I am thankful that my cats use a litter box.

Well I am trying to stick to my writing schedule, but sometimes it is difficult.  Like right now, I need food or this brain in my head will not function.  I have to get at least 1000 words written today.  Pray for me.  I need all the help I can get.  Shortly, I have to kill another person off in The Stone Killer, a naughty priest.  2014 is not that far away and there will be a lot of adding to the story and editing to do.   Sister is going to love that.

Well, food first and then back to work.  Everyone have a fantastic day.  It is another sunny blue sky day here in Colorado, and I am so happy to finally be back home in the Rockies.  Talk with you later. We would love to hear from you.  Email us at dreamah.lockwood@aol.com and we’ll respond.  Put a Hello in the subject line.  Until then, please, all of you stay safe and love each other.

SMASHWORD FORMATTING, HALLOWEEN, SUNSHINE AND A BEAUTIFUL DAY

Well, while my sister is out buying apples so she can make her apple butter, (her home-made apple butter is delicious) I am busy formatting A Circle of Murders to upload to Smashword.  I am also formatting Creating  Kathryn Crown for Kindle and CreateSpace.  Fun, fun, fun.  It is a tedious process, but I will finish both books to be uploaded, I PRAY, by Halloween.

I love Halloween, the night when ghosts, witches and goblins come out to play.  I even have a black cat, who is afraid of anyone who comes in the house.  Halloween is a magical night when the boys and girls dress up for trick or treating.  Toooooooooo much candy.  I’ll buy several bags to hand out,  Hopefully, I’ll have enough children at my door so I won’t have any left because I will be tempted to eat it, and I don’t need to indulge.  I’m not fat, but I can stand to lose a few pounds.  Honestly, maybe several.  That’s why my treadmill is in my bedroom, and yes, I use it.

SO, LAUNCH DAY FOR CREATING KATHRYN CROWN IS OCTOBER 31st!  Our Halloween gift to all you who love books as much as we do.

Here in Colorado, we haven’t had any more snow where I live.  Other parts, higher in the mountains, might have or in the northern part of the state.  But, it has been chilly.  I had to go out Friday.  I was only wearing a sweater, but I had my coat in my car, just in case.  The sun was shining and it was a little chilly because of the wind, otherwise it felt great to me. When I got home, the outside temperature turned out to be in the low forties.  Right now, it is 56 degrees here in the Springs; tonight’s low is going to be 26.  That’s a bit cold.

The front and back yards are looking sad, all brown from the frost we had Friday night.  The elm tree still has its leaves and they’re still green, as most of the trees are around my house.  In town, the foliage has changed to the bright autumn colors and it is beautiful.  Up in the high country the aspens probably have lost all their leaves.  I have not gone to the higher elevations because I’m still adjusting to the change in altitude.  Coming from Florida, which is below sea level in St Petersburg, to a city over a mile above sea level takes several months to become acclimated.   I’m doing better every day.

Well, back to work.  Everyone, have a great day and stay safe and enjoy Halloween.

CREATION OF AN IDEA, NIPPY WINTER, CATS AND SEX, AND CAR PLATES

Cat

Cat (Photo credit: @Doug88888)

For those of you who  have not read ‘A Circle of Murders’, give it a try.  No, there is not a lot of sex in the book, but it is a good story.  The story happened due to an actual abduction of a young girl in Tampa, Florida.  Her body was never found. To say that her story haunted us does not fully describe it.  We couldn’t forget that lost child.  But we knew that if all the resources at hand could not find her, the only way  she could be brought home was to create a story of how a young abducted did find her way home.  So we wrote Sarra’s story.  Give it a try, you might like it.

A fact that fills me with joy, we only have another 106 pages to go on editing Kathryn Crown and then it is format time and upload to CreateSpace and Amazon.   And there is sex in Kathryn Crown.  And keep and eye out for ‘The Stone Killer’, you can’t have romance without sex.

Speaking of SEX, my young and small female cat, Bandit, who I thought was a male thus the name, has come into heat.  I now know more than I ever wanted to know about the mating ritual of cats.  Oh, as soon as I find a veterinarian this problem will be resolved.  If not for my sanity, which is undoubtedly questionable, but for my cat’s.  So needless to say it is a bit noisy in my house.  She is very vocal about her what she wants.  And my neutered male cat, Pyewacket, seems to say, “Oh yes, I remember that activity, but I can’t help you now”.  I don’t need kittens running around, so Bandit is not allowed outside.  In fact, my cats are house cats.

Anyway, winter is again nipping at the door and it is wonderful to see the slashes of gold on the mountains.  I am filled with happiness from being back in Colorado.  I am also thrilled I now have new Colorado license plates to put on my vehicle, even if it did cost a couple hundred dollars.  My life is filled with writing, oil painting and the joy and hard work these two crafts I have been blessed with.  My sister and I work hard to make our stories, which are based on actual incidents, as well written and entertaining possible.

Well, it is late here in Colorado and my bed is calling me.  I hope you all had a fantastic day.  Take care and stay safe.
