SISTER, PATIENCE, I DON’T HAVE, VITAMINS, FUR BABIES, SLEEPLESS NIGHTS, THE HANGMAN

My sweet sister is not at her best today.  All the cold weather in KY has her in a lot of pain, so she is curled up her chair taking it easy and hoping how soon her pain pills work.  Been there, done that, don’t want to do it again.  Because I have injured my neck, both shoulders, arms and hands (too much computer time)  I occasionally have a lot of pain.  I take with my vitamins, a pain pill (Advil) ever morning and one after dinner.  Otherwise, forget me writing a lot doing the day.

I don’t have patience with not being able to do what I want to do.  God did NOT bestow me with a lot of patience for anything that doesn’t work, especially computers, software or broken promises.  I supposed that is one of the reasons I am the way I am.  If I tell you I will do something, I will do it.  If it doesn’t happen, then I will have a damn good reason for not keeping my word at the time, but will keep it at some later date.  So please people, don’t say you will do something and then not do it, especially to a child.  Broken promises hurt children.  If you hurt a child, you are not worth the effort it would take to send you to hell.  YOU NEVER HURT A CHILD OR AN ANIMAL!!  If you do, I’ll kill you off in one of my NOVELS and not in a nice way.  So there, I told you I’m a radical.

Well my fur babies are wanting me in our chair so they can curl up on my lap.  I didn’t sleep well last night, so they didn’t.  There are times I can’t shut off my brain and so I toss and turn.  Last night was one of those nights.  I was awake from 3:17 until 6:00 then up at 7.40.  I tried to catch a nap, but it eluded me.  I don’t feel as much like a zombie now, but did for most of the day.

I killed off another person in The Hangman.  I had to, he deserved it.  My goal is set for the end of march as a completion date.  Then Sister gets the manuscript with a red pen.  Target day for uploading is, I’m praying, no later than May 15.  Then it’s on to The Snatcher.

CHILLY BUT SUNNY, FUR BABIES, PAINTINGS, WRITING THE HANGMAN,

I have to say that winter weather in Colorado Springs is close to ideal.  It gets cold here, and yes we do get snow at times and even get a blizzard now and then.  For the most part, our winters are not bad.  It will snow one day and the next the sun comes out and melts most of it away and the roads are clear.  We have a great bunch of people who run the snow plows.  If it’s going to be a bad snow, we have ample warning to prepare to stay in and off the roads.  Most of the time during the winter, our temperature is in the high 30s or 40s.  We are so lucky we get as much sunshine as we do and not the weather the east coast is getting.  But we need moisture badly.  There was a grass fire near south Academy yesterday and one on Ft Carson.  All were contained, thank God.  That is a big problem here, the dryness.  It does lead to fires.

Last evening, Jo and Titan got into a bit of a fight, not a big one, but they were making aggressive noises.  My big black cat, Pyewacket, is the peacekeeper.  Whenever he hears me getting after the pups for being too aggressive, he comes running to where we are and will stand glaring at the dogs as if to say, behave or I’ll swat you, which he has done.  He may be chunky, but he’s fast.  He is also one of the sweetest cats I’ve ever known.  He doesn’t bite or scratch, but boy he lets you know when he’s hungry.  He is very loud and can be a bit demanding.  His bowl will have food, not too much, and he acts as if it’s empty.  I have to pile up the dry food and show him it’s there.  Needless to say he is over weight.

I have been reviewing and working hard on The Hangman.  I am at a point where I had to go back to make sure everything was consistent and the progression of the investigation was correct.  I got off on a wild tangent and had to delete and rewrite a couple of parts.  Sister and several friends have stated since this novel is listed as a paranormal crime fiction thriller, I can’t write Marilyn, my ghost, out.  So she is still with us.  For how long, I don’t know.  She plays a big part in the next book, The Snatcher.  After that, I have to wait and see what happens, but for now, she’s still here.  For those of you who don’t like ghost stories, sorry, I do and I think a lot of people do also.

Well, back to work.  This novel won’t write itself without my fingers on the keyboard. Everyone have a great week and stay safe.  Keep researching and writing.

A NEW YEAR, SETTING GOALS, OIL PAINTING, FUR BABIES

It is hard to believe there are only two days left in 2015.  It was a year of discovery for me.  I learned so much about perfecting my craft of writing and oil painting.  Patience.  That word applies especially in writing and even more so in oil painting.  In writing, we always want to get to the end of the story.  Sometimes that doesn’t work so well.  It was evident with my novel THE STONE KILLER.  Yes, the original story I felt was good, but I left out important information.  The revised edition is a better novel.  Redoing THE STONE KILLER bit into my work time for THE HANGMAN.  With this novel, I’m taking it slow and making sure each step of the investigation is completed.  Also I’m revealing more about my characters.  Or anyway, I hope I have.  If I haven’t I do want you, the reader, to let me know.  Send me an e-mail and tell me what you want to learn about my characters.  I’m slowly whittle away at my stack of novel outlines for the Jonas Black series.  I have so many murder and mayhem stories to write as well as a pile of romantic suspense stories I want to tell.  I just don’t have enough hours in a day to get everything done I want to do.  Those are some of my goals for 2016.

Also I want to complete enough painting to have a show somewhere here in Colorado Springs.  I finished my painting of the ladybug.  Right now I’m working to complete a beautiful dragonfly.  I know, I like bugs.  Certain insects are beautiful to me, especially butterflies and dragonflies.  I do like to paint flowers with some type of critter in the painting.  My sister, who asked me to paint her blue morning glories, made me promise not to put a bug in her painting.  I kept my word.  But boy was I tempted to add an ant on the trellis.  I have a stack of photos I want to paint of birds, flower, mountain scenes, seascapes and too many to list.    Like I said, not enough hour for me to get it all done and take care of the fur babies, the house, the laundry and too many other things to list.  My fur babies are #1 on that list.  They’re my kids and mean the world to me.
