WARM, TRAVEL, EDITING

Hey everyone: Hope all is well with you.
We came home from Mansfield yesterday afternoon, spent the night at home and now we are in Louisville babysitting our grand dog for the week end. It was very cold in Ohio and now here we are at 78deg in KY.
Sister is bragging about her roses and now she is expecting a snow storm. That’s what she gets for going on and on and on and on about being able to plant. I can’t even dig a hole yet. But, hopefully, our cold is over and tomatoes will be in the ground soon.

I tell you. One little complained about not having anything to edit and Sister up and sends me what she has on THE HANGMAN. Actually, I am anxious to get started on the first round. I did notice one pitiful little bud on my dogwood tree. It’s only about three foot tall, but I have hopes for it. It’s funny but just about 80 miles south, the dogwood are in full bloom.

Well, I hope you all have a good week end. Get some writing and/or editing done and we’ll talk again soon. If you haven’t yet, go to Amazon and buy THE STONE KILLER. I think you will like it and it is the first in the JONAS BLACK series.

CHRISTMAS, COOKING, OTHER STUFF

Well, it’s over. Got a whole year to prepare for it again. Christmas, that is. I’m not looking forward to New Year’s Day. Florida State plays Oregon, and needless to say, I am very concerned about that game. But, back to Christmas. My daughter insisted I bring everything to her house and cook dinner over there. You should have seen my car, loaded with standing mixer, et al. My son-in-law wanted dinner about three, but there was so much to cook that it was after four before we sat down at the table. Of course, everything was delicious and there were plenty of leftovers for everyone.
Sister is working on The Hangman. unless her mind takes off in a different direction and she starts working on another title or blurbs or some other thing that has nothing to do with The Hangman. I would say she is an Aries, but I know she is a scorpio. it’s just that her mind is sometimes scrambled like a bowl of eggs. My mind is small. It can only concentrate on one thing at a time. Right now, I am in
the process of editing A CIRCLE OF MURDERS for Smashword. It must be pristine for them. Not one single error. I thought we had it perfect, but several people have told us they found a couple of errors when they read it. Once again, I am going through it line by line.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and 2015 is better than the last year. Keep writing and above all, KEEP EDITING.
Be sure to read THE STONE KILLER and let us know what you think of it.
Till later, 1/2/DHL

FOOTBALL, COLD, NO SHOES, ETC

Good morning folks:
Here we are with another Saturday, another FSU game to win. I hope. We have won 24 straight games, and I know the day will come when we lose. Just picture me curled in the fetal position bawling my eyes out. It will not be a pretty sight.
It is very difficult to type when you have a Bichon on your lap and the computer on the arm of my chair.
I guess winter is here. There is a Polar Vortex on the way, and it is supposed to cover almost the entire nation. Seems sort of early for that, don’t ya think? We have already had snow so who knows what’s next.
Well, it seems that Bella, the Belgian has been at it again. She chewed my house slippers up, so that left me with a pair of sequin covered ruby red slippers I bought at The Wizard of Oz Museum in, of all places, Kansas.
I didn’t buy them to wear. I just thought they were pretty. Bella found them and chewed one bow off the right shoe. I bought a new pair of fuzzy slippers on Wednesday. Thought I had them hidden from Bella, I went into the bedroom and there, on the bed, was one of my new slippers chewed all to Hell. Back to the ruby red slippers. Bella will be on my list for a long time.
Well Sister is working on The Hangman. It is going to be a good one too. THE STONE KILLER is up on Amazon, don’t forget to get your copy and write a review. Those reviews really help.
Guess I will get started on some laundry and house cleaning before the games come on.
You all take care of yourselves and don’t forget to EDIT, EDIT, EDIT.

WEATHER, APPLE TREE, ETC.

Good morning all, as usual I have been telling Sister I would do a blog, but this is really the first time I have remembered to do so. The first thing I want to get off my chest is that I HATE THIS DAMN COMPUTER! I miss my Mac. I bought an HP with a touch screen and windows 8.1. It is the most confusing thing I have ever tried to use.
We got up to 43deg. this morning. Happy to see some cooler weather. But it won’t last, we are supposed to have 79 by Thursday.
This is he first year we have had apples on our tree. Two of them. The wind blew one off the tree and I decided to just go head and pick the other one.
Sister sent me some pages to edit, so that’s good. But not today. Today is football Saturday and nothing takes priority, unless you’re having a stroke or something. Then I would still be a little miffed. At 3:30 nothing gets in the way of FL. State playing.
I sure hope you all are having a nice day, and if you have purchased THE STONE KILLER(why not) please go back to Amazon and write a review of the book. We greatly appreciate the ratings.

You all have a real nice day and don’t forget to edit one more time.
we’ll talk again later.

I DON’T KNOW YET

Well folks I’m back.  And to tell you the truth, I don’t even know where I’ve been.  I just know I have been unable to write a blog for awhile.  Because Sister asked me to, I’m going to give it a go.

How the heck have y’all been?  Not much going on in my world.  Well, my husband had a total knee replacement, and even tho he has a very high pain tolerance, he suffered quite a bit.   He is better now, but still has some pain after therapy.I

Have you ever typed an entire paragraph only to have it disappear?  Well, that Just happened to me.  I don’t know where it went.  I suppose it is out there in cyberspace somewhere.  So I will try to do it again.

The most exciting thing in my life is that I am going to Colorado in June.  I can hardly wait.  If we can talk our sister in Ohio to go too, we can have a family reunion.

I’m editing THE STONE KILLER as fast as I can.  Sister needs to finish writing the darn thing so we can get it up on Amazon soon.

My dinner is nearly ready and the husband is hungry, so I will say bye for now.  You all be good to yourselves and we’ll talk again soon.  Stick with your writing and don’t let yourself get into a slump like I have.

SISTER, WEATHER AND CRASHED COMPUTERS.

Well, it’s been awhile, but I finally got around to doing a blog.  Sister’s computer crashed and she is about to pull her hair out.  I’m sure she is dying to know what I’m doing on all our sites.

A couple of things the world needs  to know.  I say the world because I like to think big.  #1 is that we have changed the name of the detective in THE STONE KILLER.  Doesn’t JONAS BLACK sound better than JOHN T. HUNTINGTON?  JTH sounds like one of those pot bellied men who sit on the board of corporations.

#2 is that we are going to have a sale of our books.  A CIRCLE OF MURDERS will be on sale from March 14 thru 18 for $.99, then reverts back to the regular price of $2.99.

CREATING KATHRYN CROWN will we on sale from March 15-18 for $.99, as well.  Then reverts back to the regular price of $3.99.

Got up to snow this morning.  Another vortex coming.  High today of 22 deg.  I think I’ll just crawl into a hole, but I’m sure there would be snow in it.

Gotta go now.  You all stay safe and warm and be good to yourselves.

THE STONE KILLER, CORRECT GENRE, MURDER AND MAYHEM, TITAN HAS A HOME, SUNSHINE, WINDY

Titan[1]First let me tell you of the newest addition to my household.  His name is Titan, because he has that small dog attitude.  He is a deep, dark chocolate-brown and is the sweetest puppy.  I am so glad I rescued him.  Of course the cats are having an adjustment.  Pyewacket seem to so, “Oh, a dog.  Okay.”  Stanley is not so sure, as he was great friends with my toy poodle that died in 2012.  Bandit!  She appears to wonder why in the hell did Mom bring that thing home.  Slowly but steadily she is getting closer and closer to him.  He is a great little dog.  He is a Chihuahua, but larger than most Chihuahuas I’ve seen.  Anyway, he is mine now.

Next, I have to say that when I started to write THE STONE KILLER, I originally planned on it being a romantic suspense.  When the ghost of the first victim appeared, I thought, okay, it’s a paranormal romantic suspense.  Well folks, it just isn’t as I have discovered.  I submitted the first chapter to DearAuthor.com for first page reviews.  They determined that THE STONE KILLER is  crime fiction.  There is romance in the story as well as a ghost, but romance is not the predominate theme. So I have reclassified the book to crime fiction, thriller. If you want to discover if you’re on the right road in writing your book, submit your unpublished first page to DearAuthor.com first page reviews for critique.  Google the site.  You will have to take the good reviews with the bad, but it is worth the experience.

Well, back to work on my “gruesome” story. Hey folks, life can sometimes be gruesome.  I hear it on the news all the time.  That’s where I got the idea for THE STONE KILLER.  BUT, life is filled with good things too which I really do focus on first.  Murder and mayhem is what I write and I hope I’m good at it.  But people who personally know me would tell you it is hard for me to even kill a bug.

So, until we talk again, take care of yourselves, show your love to others and keep writing.  Stay safe.

SNOW, OHIO, PEACE AND QUIET

I have been here since Thursday and so far not one dog has barked or scratched at the door.   On Friday we went shopping.  Macy’s had a great sale and I bought two pair of boots

Mostly we sit around watching the Olympics.  We love them and they only come around every four years.  Or is it six?  I can’t remember.  I just know that our team seems off this time around.  Bode Miller is married.  That breaks my heart.  I thought sure he would wait for me.

I swear, I thought I was done with snow.  Got up at 8:00 and could hardly see outside it was snowing so hard.  Still is too.  The weather channel says it is 21 deg. here in Mansfield.  Sister will probably call later bragging about it being almost 70 in Colorado Springs.  I don’t know what is wrong with Mother Nature, but I wish she would get back on her Prozac and get this winter straightened out.

I got a couple of chapters of THE STONE KILLER EDITED.  Then discovered my printer screwed up.  The page #’s go from 104 t0 139.  That burns me up.  Now I will have to wait till I get home to edit any more.

Well, I should get some breakfast.  My sister here in OH is just aghast that we don’t get up and eat breakfast right away.  My stomach just won’t accept food the minute my feet hit the floor.  But she is sitting here with her bowl of Cheerios.  She adds about 3 grains of sugar and a few blueberries and calls it breakfast.  Of course, she is a lot thinner than me.

I really am hungry so I must go.  You all be good to yourselves and make sure you write something today. Just a reminder, we really do appreciate all of you who follow us on Twitter.

BELLA, COLD, STONE KILLER

For a change, the sun is out.  Hopefully it will melt some of the ice on the back steps.  We went out on Saturday to try and find salt for the driveway, steps, etc.  There is none in this county.  One of the home improvement stores is getting a shipment from Canada tomorrow.

I sit here just staring out the window.  Everything is white.  Now and again I move my fingers just to see if they still work.  Our neighbor came over on Friday just to see if we are still alive.  On the way across the drive, he slipped on the ice and hit his head.  I’m surprised he isn’t in the hospital, but he swears he is ok.  People in KY are wonderful.

I did spend some time this morning editing THE STONE KILLER.  It really is a painstaking job.  This is the first edit, so I am sure there will be 2-3 more readings of the book.  I mean it when I say it is the best one so far.

Last night Bella went outside and brought in a big piece of ice.  She doesn’t care that I cleaned the floors on Saturday.  Then she brought in a branch from one of the pine trees.  Craziest darned  dog I have ever had.

There is not much going on around here except snow and another artic blast.  I hate that ground hog for seeing his shadow. I hope he gets stuck in his hole and never gets out again.

You all be good to yourselves and all those around you.  We’ll talk again later.

THAT DREADED WORD C–D, ICE, STONE KILLER

Rose_smOnce again I am bitching about the weather.  You all are no sicker of reading about it than I am talking about it.  I sit here this morning with sun beating on my kitchen window.  Hopefully it will melt enough of the ice so that I can see out.  We have about 1/2 inch of ice under 3 inches of snow then more ice on top of that.  My daughter’s car locks are frozen and being cold weather ignorant, we don’t know what to do, so we just sit here and bitch.

Have any of you ever watched the TV show SWAMP PEOPLE?  If you think writing is hard. just watch one episode of that show.  Hey, we have watched everything else on TV, even Appalachian Outlaws.  I have no idea what those people do with ginseng, but they sure go through a lot to get it.

But it’s not all bad.  Sister sent me 160 pages of THE STONE KILLER.  I’m pretty happy about that.  This is the best book so far.  BUT DON’T LET THAT KEEP YOU FROM BUYING THE OTHER TWO!

Well I better get some breakfast then get to work editing.  Sister gets upset if I don’t have anything done when she calls.  I don’t blame her.  I would too.

You all take care and be good to yourselves.  Try to write at least 1 page today then edit it till you hate it.

We’ll talk later
