MOUSE, WINTER, WHERE IS IT?, BOOKCOVER FOR HANNAH? STORYLINE HAS A GHOST.

The mouse is dead, I’m sorry to say. I knew I had one in the house because of the way the cats were acting, putting their noses to the floor in front of the washer. Sure enough my big black cat, Pyewacket, caught and killed it. I had a devil of a time getting it away from him. He was determined to keep it, and I was determined to take it away from him. The only thing you could see of it was its long tail sticking out of his mouth. He finally let it go, and it wasn’t quite deceased because it scurried away. I finally caught it with a paper towel. It was such a tiny little thing, and I felt terrible that it had to die. I hate to kill anything even a bug, but you can’t live with mice or bugs in your house. I know that sounds strange coming from someone who kills people off in novels. But I have a great respect for the smallest of God’s creature and would not harm one unless it is absolutely necessary. So anyway, I’ve took the poor little thing outside, and after he died, I buried him in a large flowerpot. So if there are any more mice coming in from the garage I know my big black cat will catch them.

Since I did not sleep well last night, I didn’t get up until close to nine o’clock this morning. I had noticed last night before taking the dogs out for the final trip that it didn’t feel all that cold. But I did expect it to be cold this morning when I let them out. It wasn’t it was already close to 56°. All this warm weather were having at the beginning of the year is crazy. Normally this time of year, our temperatures are in the upper 30s low 40s with an occasional bout of snow. Time of year having temperatures in the upper 60s is nuts. It makes me wonder if Old Man Winter look to Colorado and said I’ll see you later. Normally our snow months are March and April. We do get a bit of snow during that time. But now with all this warm weather so far, we just might really get slammed hard with snowstorms. We can’t really complain, plus we are desperate for moisture.

I’ve been telling you about the romantic story I’m writing, All For The Love of Hannah, well I normally design my own book covers. I have a program that allows me to do that. Unfortunately it’s not working right now which is no big deal, as I can call the Geek Squad and they will fix it. I am just having trouble deciding what to use in the design. As this is essentially the story of a soldier’s love for his wife and how he comes back to protect her, I am a little troubled by exactly what to use. I’ve already designed one am not real thrilled with it. So I guess I’ll keep coming up with designs until I find one that is really striking.

I have several errands to run today so I shall be out in this beautiful warm weather we’re having even if it’s a little bit windy. They’re telling us we may get a smidgen, and when I say smidgen it is just that, on Tuesday. Well moisture is moisture and we will take all we can get.

Everyone have a fantastic day and take care of yourself. Always remember, NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER.

The best to you all,

SNOW ON THE PEAK, WINTER, GROCERY STORE, THE STONE KILLER, THE HANGMAN

After a couple of days of rain at the lower elevations, we got up to sunshine and snow on Pike’s Peak.  Out high today is 61, which will be nice.  I guess Old Man Winter is traveling our way.  Boy did we need the rain.  And it was a soft steady rain for two days.  Right now, the wind chime on the back porch  is dancing in the breeze and singing a merry tune.  I love wind chimes and have several which are still packed away.  I have one of a beautiful blue dragonfly.  That’s where I got the idea for Morgan and Marilyn’s tattoos in THE STONE KILLER.

Speaking of THE STONE Revised 1 SK CoverKILLER, the revised edition has been uploaded and is available on Amazon.com.  It is a much better book and I hope you will enjoy the story.

NEW HANGMAN SINGLETHE HANGMAN  has taken a new turn, one that I was not expecting.  There’s a new player in the case.  I’ll have to wait and see what happens from now on.  I think he will show up more in another book.

NEW SNATCHER CVR

I know he won’t be in the next book, THE NEW JUDGE SINGLESNATCHER.  I think maybe he’ll be in THE JUDGE.   He is a fascinating character and should prove entertaining.  Anyway I hope so.

As much as I hate it, I have to go to Wal-Mart.  I have put it off until I don’t even have a slice of bread in the house.  Can’t even make a sandwich.  Blast it all.  I hate going to the grocery store.  I think that’s why I keep putting it off.  Oh well, it has to be done.

Everyone have a great weekend and stay safe

WEEKEND, HOUSE CLEANING, PERSISTENCE, RAIN AHEAD, FALL, WINTER

This week has flown by and now that the weekend is here, I have to get some house cleaning done, not to even mention the pile of laundry waiting for me.  Since the weather has been so hot, I don’t mind using the washing machine, but hate to turn on the dryer. My washer and dryer are in the kitchen, which is great except in hot weather, and yes the dryer is vented outside, but it still puts off heat.

By Sunday, our chances of afternoon rain increases.  That will help cool the hot weather.  So far today, it hasn’t been too bad, but I keep the fans running continuously, which helps.  All my fur babies are curled up asleep.  I am happy to report my beloved Pyewacket, my black cat,  has lost enough weight that he can now reach his back legs without his belly being in the way.

Also, it is hard to believe that August is closing fast on July.  Fall and winter are chomping through the days eager for their turn in the year.  2016 is close to being born and 2015 will hobble out on his cane never to be seen again.

NEW HANGMAN SINGLEI hope this year has been prosperous for everyone.  I know I have accomplished a lot of writing and learning about the craft.  But writing, like painting, is a continual learning process, which is great.  If and when we ever reach the point we think we know everything about writing, then we’re only fooling ourselves.  So keep growing in the craft.  I intend to by working to perfect THE HANGMAN and the other books in the series.

Everyone have a great weekend.  Stay safe as life is short.

Dreamah.

HOT, MUGGY AND BUGGY TO DRY AND COOL

Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs

My friend Robin and I have been busy packing all my belonging for my move to Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I am selling most of the “stuff” I have collected over the years and will be glad to be rid of it.  It has been packed away and never used, so I don’t need it.  Of course all my writing book and such plus all my oil painting equipment, brushes, paints, canvases, easels and frames go with me.  Believe me, my art equipment is a lot.  So is my writing books and computers.

One of the main reasons for moving to Colo is that my house here in Florida has sold, and I have to go somewhere.  I lived in Colo before and loved it, so why not go back.  I love the Rockies and since the Garden of the Gods is the local for THE STONE KILLER, I can do more on the scene research and my friend with the Colo Spgs Police Dept lives there and will allow me to pick his brain for information.  I will miss my friends in Florida.  They are a great bunch, but email and Skype are available, also the phone works both ways and planes fly west.

I am excited about returning to the Springs.  I will arrive there in mid August and will get to see the mountains turn gold as the Aspen leaves change color.  This year, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be cold and more like they should be as the weather eases into winter.  I have family and friends still in Colo who are excited to see my return.  We all need to live where we are happiest.  For me that is Colo Spgs.  And as one of my sisters keeps telling me, it not the same place as when I lived there.  Of course not.  Every place changes over the years just as we all do, some for the better, some in the worst way.  I was in the Springs in 2008 and it has spread out, but the downtown is the same 8 square blocks.  So, folks, keep me in your prayers as I make the long drive from Florida to Colorado with my friend Robin and my “three cats” in my Chevy HHR.  Yes, three cats, so it should be interesting.

Don’t forget to read my novel A CIRCLE OF MURDERS.  It’s a good story and I think you’ll like my main female character Sarra Gray.  She has had a hell of a rough life.  Give it a read and let me know what you think.  I would love your feedback.

All of you have a great day and stay safe.
